What an amazing day!!  This morning we performed at the Zagreb Folklore Festival, on the main stage, at Ben Jelacic Square.  We performed three dances ... Kozachok, Volyn and Hopak.  Our performance was very well received by the audience in attendance.  After the show the dancers went into the audience and passed out souvenir Canadian pins.  They were requested many times to pose for pictures in their costumes with people intrigued by their performance.   Other countries performing this morning were Iraq, Belgium, Slovakia, Italy and Columbia.

Leading up to this performance we were notified that the Canadian Ambassodor to Croatia, Louise LaRocque would be coming to see us perform!  Also from the Canadian Embassy, in attendance with Ambassor LaRocque, was Bill McCrimmon (Consul and Counsellor), and as well, Mr. Bernard Vrban (Political Affairs and Public Relations Officer).
We were also honoured when Ukrainian Ambassodor to Croatia Oleksandr Levchenko arrived at the show to see us perform!  He was very appreciative of our performance and even came back stage and sang a few bars of our Volyn song for us!!  It truly was an incredible privilege to perform for all the dignitaries.

We were further honoured when Ambassodor LaRocque invited us to join her for a refreshment after the show.  She accompanied us back to our hotel, along with Mr. McCrimmon and Mr. Vrban, where we had the opportunity to visit with them one on one.  Ambassodor LaRocque spoke highly of the dancers ... she acknowledged their energetic and enthusiastic dancing, as well as, their good work at being young ambassadors for Canada.  Later in the day we were notified that Selo was on the Canadian Embassy Facebook page.  Go to:  https://www.facebook.com/CanadainCroatia?fref=photo

In the afternoon we visited the town of Somobor, located 30 kilometres away from Zagreb.   We did a walking tour of the town taking in the scenic beauty made of lush nature and well-preserved architecture.  We enjoyed a delicious lunch at a local restaurant, and as well sampled the famous dessert 'kremsnita' as a street cafe.

In the evening we participated in a cultural dance worksop, learning various ethnic dances from the countries of Croatia, Italy, Switzerland to name a few.  Following the workshop we watched a concert performed by various Croatian cultural groups.

It was an action packed day ... a day of many very special opportunities and memories.
